Do single road lane at Kung Ming school July 6, 2010

I call on the government not to acquire portion of SRJK Kung Ming land for the purpose of constructing dual carriage road but instead do a single lane in front of the school.

About 10-feet of the school’s land will be acquired if the road is to be turned into a dual carriage and the school board of directors had already stated that they will not allow the land to be acquired due to safety and health of the pupils. The school has a good reason because it has only 5-acres of land and cannot extend anymore.

The government should instead do single lane when the dual carriage road reach the school for safety and noise reason. Just like SMK Tamparuli, where the highway becomes single land as the road reach the school or the Jalan Bersatu, Kolombong-Damai bypass near the SMC Hospital.

As an assemblyman I too am against the government from acquiring the school land, as school is for public purpose and is equally important as a road development. I call on the Public Works Department (PWD) here to hold a dialogue with the school’s board of directors and also invite me. The government should be reasonable and consider the grievance of the school.
