water.jpgDAP Tawau branch  Secretary Chan Foong Hin and me visited the Tawau Pasar Tanjung on Sunday and stalls owners at the 3rd floor selling food and drinks were complaining that the council’s contractor is not doing a good repair and maintenance job as most of the stalls floor were wet due to clogged pipes and leakings.
There were many other complaints, among them tables and chairs that need replacement or repairs and garbage collection. I hope the Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) who is also the building owner of one of the biggest market in the country would come and have a closer look at the situation.
I am sure other stalls would had their business closed on the dot by TMC, however at its own building with clogged pipes, wet floor, unpleasant smells, dirty floorings, leakings, spoilt tables and chairs, business is allowed. Is this double standards? TMC should close the building and get it repaired, cleaned and repainted, before they tell other restaurants and food sellers about health, hygiene and cleanliness.
